Accreditation Mark and Badge

The HCDE mark tells the public that a body holds a current accreditation. Here is who may use it, how, and how to check that a use is genuine.

The mark is a promise that can be checked. Only a body whose accreditation is in force may display it, and it must always be possible to confirm that on the HCDE registry.

These are HCDE's own marks, shown here to explain how they look. They are supplied, in the formats a body needs, only when accreditation is granted, and they mean nothing on any page that is not about a body whose record can be verified.

Who may use it

  • A body that currently holds HCDE accreditation, for the institution, training center or program named on its certificate.
  • Nobody else. An applicant may say it has applied. It may not show the mark.

How to use it

  • Use the artwork exactly as supplied, without changing colours, proportions or wording.
  • Keep clear space around it and use it large enough to read.
  • Place the scope and registration number from the certificate next to it.
  • Link it, or refer it, to the HCDE verification page.
  • Remove it promptly if the accreditation is suspended, withdrawn or has expired.

How to tell a genuine use from a misleading one

  1. Look for the registration number and the scope next to the mark.
  2. Search for that number on the verification page.
  3. Check that the status is current and that what you are looking at is inside the scope.
  4. If anything does not match, write to [email protected].
The mark is not governmental recognition

HCDE is a private, independent, non-governmental body. Its accreditation rests on its own published standards and does not constitute governmental recognition.

The full rules are in Use of the Accreditation Mark.
