Policy
Use of the Accreditation Mark
Who may use the HCDE name and mark, how, and what is never allowed.
Who may use the mark
Only a body that currently holds HCDE accreditation may use the HCDE accreditation mark, and only for the institution, training center or program named in its certificate. The mark is supplied by HCDE when accreditation is granted.
How it must be used
- Use the artwork exactly as supplied. Do not change its colours, proportions, wording or lettering, and do not combine it with other marks into a new logo.
- Keep clear space around the mark and use it at a size where the text can be read.
- Next to the mark, state the scope and registration number shown on the certificate, for example the name of the institution or program.
- Link or refer to the HCDE verification page so that anyone can check the status.
Approved wording
Statements about accreditation must be accurate and no wider than the certificate. Use wording such as: Accredited by HCDE, followed by the registration number and scope. Do not describe the accreditation as governmental recognition, a licence to operate, or a ranking.
What is not allowed
- Using the mark on programs or locations outside the certificate's scope
- Using the mark while accreditation is suspended, withdrawn or expired
- Suggesting that HCDE endorses a product, a service or a person
- Using the mark on documents, certificates or qualifications as though HCDE awarded them
- Implying that HCDE accreditation is recognised, approved or licensed by any government
Applicants and former holders
Applicants may say that they have applied, but not that they are accredited. A body whose accreditation ends must remove the mark and any claim of accreditation from websites, materials and documents promptly, as set out in the Suspension and Withdrawal Policy.
Misuse
HCDE investigates reports of misuse. It may require the body to correct the material, publish a notice, and, where misuse is serious or repeated, suspend or withdraw accreditation. Misuse by a body that was never accredited may be reported to the relevant authorities.
