Accreditation

Decisions and Status Definitions

The decisions the Accreditation Committee can take, the statuses shown in the public registry and exactly what each one means.

A status is a statement of fact, on a date. The registry shows it exactly as defined here, so that no one has to guess what a word means.

Review findings

For each of the eight standards the review team records one of three findings, with its reasons.

FindingMeaning
MetThe evidence shows that the standard is met.
Met with recommendationsThe standard is met. There are specific points that should be improved, and the body is asked to report on them.
Not yet metThe evidence does not show that the standard is met. The report says what is missing.

Decisions

DecisionWhen it is taken
AccreditAll standards are met, with or without recommendations.
Accredit with conditionsAccreditation is granted, and specific actions must be completed by set dates, which the decision states.
DeferThe committee needs further evidence before it can decide, and says what it needs and by when.
DeclineThe standards are not met to the extent needed for accreditation. The decision explains what would need to change before a new application.

Every decision is sent in writing with its reasons and information about appeal. Applications that are deferred or declined do not appear in the public registry.

Reading a record

Each registry record gives the registration number, the certificate number, the scope of what is accredited, the status, the date of issue and the date to which the accreditation runs. Status is as at the date you view it. Use the verification page to check a record, and write to [email protected] if something does not match.
