Credential Review and Equivalency
A private evaluation of an individual's qualifications and experience, set out in a written report you can share with an employer, an institution or an adviser.
Credential Review is a private evaluation service. It is not an official attestation, a legalisation of documents or a government-issued verification. The report is HCDE's professional opinion. Whether it is accepted is for the person or organisation that receives it to decide, and HCDE cannot guarantee acceptance.
Who it is for
People who hold qualifications or experience gained in different systems and want them described and compared in a clear, consistent way: for example, when applying for a job, for further study or for a professional body's own process.
What the review does
- Examines the documents you submit and, where possible, confirms them with the issuing institution.
- Describes each qualification: what it is, the level, the subject and the amount of study.
- Compares it with a recognised level in the system you name, and explains the basis of the comparison.
- Where relevant, describes work experience and how it relates to the qualification you are seeking to match.
Types of report
Document-by-document
Identifies each document, describes the qualification and states its comparative level.
Course-by-course
Goes further, listing subjects and credit or hours, for people who need to show detail, for example for credit transfer.
How it works
- You choose the report and send an inquiry.
- HCDE confirms what documents are needed and the fee.
- You submit certified copies or digital copies as agreed.
- HCDE evaluates, may contact issuers, and may ask you for more information.
- You receive the written report.
What it is not
- It does not make a foreign qualification legally equal to a national one.
- It does not replace the decision of a government authority, a regulator or a licensing body.
- It is not an accreditation of you or of the institution that taught you.
HCDE is a private, independent, non-governmental body. Its accreditation rests on its own published standards and does not constitute governmental recognition.
