Policy
Code of Conduct
The standards of behaviour HCDE expects of its staff, reviewers, committee members and accredited bodies.
Who this applies to
This code applies to everyone who acts for HCDE (staff, reviewers, committee and panel members, and contractors) and to every body that holds or applies for HCDE accreditation.
Integrity
- Tell the truth. Information given to HCDE, and information about HCDE given to others, must be accurate and not misleading.
- Do not offer, give, ask for or accept gifts, hospitality or favours that could influence, or appear to influence, a review or a decision.
- Declare any conflict of interest as soon as it arises, as set out in the Conflict of Interest Policy.
Fairness and respect
- Treat everyone with courtesy and dignity, whatever their position, nationality, gender, belief or background.
- Judge institutions on the evidence and the published standards, not on reputation, size or relationships.
- Give every applicant the same opportunity to explain, correct and respond.
Confidentiality
- Keep confidential any information received in the course of a review or application, and use it only for that purpose.
- Do not discuss the progress or outcome of a review before the decision is issued.
- Protect personal data in line with the Privacy Policy.
Accredited bodies
- Describe your accreditation accurately, including its scope and dates, and never suggest governmental recognition.
- Use the HCDE mark only as the Use of the Accreditation Mark policy permits.
- Tell HCDE promptly about significant changes and about matters that could affect your status.
- Cooperate fully and honestly with reviews, monitoring and any investigation.
Raising concerns
Anyone who believes this code has been broken should tell HCDE in writing. Concerns are handled under the Complaints and Appeals Policy. No one will be penalised for raising a concern in good faith.
Breaches
A breach by a member of staff, reviewer or panel member may lead to removal from their role. A breach by an accredited body may lead to conditions, suspension or withdrawal of accreditation under the Suspension and Withdrawal Policy.
